Why don’t we learn to look from a meta-view or a bird’s eye?

Why don’t we learn to look from a meta-view or a bird’s eye?

I find it essential to try to look at things from multiple perspectives.

Unfortunately, we tend to do only what we believe in at all costs. We thus can be blind to what we don’t want to consider or pay attention to. Moreover, we tend to think we are the exception—we are not blind—in this respect, so we don’t realize that.

We tend to “defend ourselves,” “be miffed when criticized,” sometimes “use provocative language,” and even “take pleasure in others’ misfortunes,”…. Instead of averting our eyes from differing opinions, however, it should be “starting from us” that we strive to understand other people’s viewpoints.

Only by letting go of our “obsession” and keeping our perspectives flexible should we be able to see things more aptly from multiple perspectives. And this way, persuading and motivating others would also become more accessible.

In short, we need to be able to swallow both the good and bad for ourselves in life. This is a reminder to myself also.
